The Banquet note
On 6 August 2026, Vogue announced that Vogue World will stage its 2027 edition in San Francisco in the early fall, following Vogue World: Milano on 22 September 2026 at the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. Anna Wintour framed the city through diverse communities, rebelliousness, innovation and civic values; Mayor Daniel Lurie tied the booking to arts-led recovery and creative industries. Juan Costa Paz of Convoy remains creative director. Exact date, venue, theme, tickets and sponsors were not published with the announcement.
Earlier editions each borrowed a local myth: New York’s 2022 street fair, London’s 2023 Theatre Royal Drury Lane night for performing arts, Paris 2024 fashion-and-sport at Place Vendôme, Hollywood 2025 fashion-and-cinema on the Paramount lot, and Milan’s craftsmanship brief under glass. San Francisco already has an Asian fashion archive ready for that treatment, from Kaisik Wong and Derek Lam’s Chinatown roots to the de Young’s Fashioning San Francisco exhibition and Grant Avenue retail such as KIM+ONO. Independent retailers including Modern Appealing Clothing have urged a values-forward “green carpet” rather than a generic red-carpet import.
Plan it well
Do not book flights around a rumored weekend until Vogue publishes the date. Keep Grant Avenue, the de Young and Hayes Valley retail on a daytime map if you are already in the city for the week; confirm museum hours and boutique appointments separately from the spectacle.
