Modern Appealing Clothing (MAC) is the Hayes Valley boutique at 387 Grove Street founded in 1980 by siblings Ben and Chris Ospital with their mother, Jeri, and still one of San Francisco’s clearest rooms for Belgian and Japanese avant-garde fashion. Expect houses such as Dries Van Noten, Junya Watanabe and Comme des Garçons beside independent labels, with art from Creative Growth and Creativity Explored on the walls. A Dogpatch location has also operated historically; confirm which floor you need before you ride across town.
