Editorial Mission
The Banquet is a luxury publication covering travel, design, fashion, watches, dining, architecture, hospitality, culture, and affluent living through a modern Asian and Asian-diaspora lens.
We are not a news site, a blog, or an influencer platform. We publish editorial that is timeless, restrained, and globally sophisticated: the kind of writing and photography one expects from the finest print magazines, adapted for a reader who lives across cities, cuisines, and inheritances.
Why “The Banquet”
A banquet is among the oldest forms of luxury: communal, generous, and governed by ritual. It is where hospitality, appetite, status, and memory meet at the same table. The name signals our conviction that luxury is not solitary consumption but a shared language of taste, passed between generations and geographies.
Who We Write For
The Banquet serves globally mobile readers who care about craft, context, and discretion: executives and creatives with ties to Asia and the diaspora; collectors and travelers who book with intention; hosts who understand that a room, a meal, or a journey can be designed as carefully as a wardrobe.
Our reader does not need to be told that luxury exists. They need a publication that respects their intelligence, names the places and makers worth knowing, and avoids the breathless tone of trend reporting.
What “Asian and Asian-Diaspora Lens” Means
This is not a niche label. It is an editorial vantage point. We cover Kyoto and Vancouver with equal seriousness. We treat Cantonese fine dining in Richmond, omakase in Los Angeles, and Seoul tailoring as central to contemporary luxury, not as “diversity” sidebar content.
The diaspora lens means we write for readers who compare Tokyo to Hong Kong from memory, who inherit appetites their parents cooked, and who expect a publication to understand that luxury today is transnational by default.
Our Sections
Five sections organize the editorial property: Travel, Style, Table, Residence, and Society. Each is a distinct front page, not a tag archive. Signature franchises, including The Asian Grand Tour, extend across sections as the canon grows.
What We Do Not Do
- Chase daily news cycles or celebrity gossip
- Publish unverified restaurant, hotel, or pricing claims without editorial review
- Use affiliate links without disclosure
- Accept sponsored content that masquerades as independent editorial
- Optimize for search keywords at the expense of prose quality
Editorial Standards
Every article is edited for accuracy, tone, and restraint. Guides that include rates, star ratings, or booking details are dated and reviewed on a regular cycle. We name specific places, people, and objects wherever possible; abstraction is a failure mode we guard against, especially in Society and Table coverage.
Images
The Banquet uses self-hosted editorial photography selected for relevance to the story, not generic stock filler. Alt text and captions should add meaning, not merely describe what is visible. We do not duplicate images across unrelated articles.
Corrections
Factual errors are corrected promptly and noted at the bottom of the affected article with the correction date. To report an error, contact hello@atthebanquet.com.
Advertising & Partnerships
The Banquet accepts selective brand partnerships that align with our editorial standards. Sponsored content is always labeled. For partnership inquiries, see our Partnerships page or write to hello@atthebanquet.com.
