The Banquet note
Art Basel Paris returns to the Grand Palais from 23 to 25 October 2026 for its fifth edition, the first under fair director Karim Crippa. More than 200 exhibitors from over forty countries and territories were announced across Galeries, Emergence and Premise, with preview days on 21 and 22 October and a public vernissage on the 22nd. The restored glass hall is the point and the problem: it is beautiful, loud and exhausting. Paris’s autumn week piles museum openings and gallery dinners onto the same Right Bank address, which is why the fair works best as one appointment inside a longer stay.
Walk in, look hard, leave while you still like pictures. Keep a Left Bank or museum morning for another day; the eighth arrondissement will not reward a heroic loop. Paris has long been a meeting place for Asian modernism and diasporic practice, and those histories read more clearly in a quiet institutional room than under the Grand Palais nave at 16:00. Confirm ticket tiers on artbasel.com. If you already walked Saint-Germain for Parcours des Mondes in September, you do not need to repeat that circuit during fair week unless a specific dealer asked you back.
Plan it well
Do the Grand Palais on one day you will not also attempt a distant museum. Book hotels before late-October fashion overflow. Design Miami Paris occupies L’hôtel de Maisons from 20 to 25 October on a separate ticket; give the mansion its own Left Bank block. Parcours des Mondes in early September is the antiques walk if you want objects rather than the contemporary floor.
