The Banquet note
Frieze Los Angeles launched in 2019 at Paramount Pictures Studios and is directed as part of Frieze Americas under Christine Messineo. The fair moved to Santa Monica Airport in 2023, staging a custom tent and outdoor programmes on the airfield campus at 3027 Airport Avenue. The eighth edition runs from 25 to 28 February 2027 across Galleries and Focus sections, with roughly one hundred U.S. and international galleries planned. The 2026 seventh edition gathered about ninety-five exhibitors from twenty-two countries, including Seoul's Kukje Gallery, Gallery Hyundai and Johyun Gallery, Tokyo's Kaikai Kiki and Taka Ishii, and Nonaka-Hill between Los Angeles and Kyoto beside the usual blue-chip circuit.
Plan Santa Monica and the rest of Los Angeles as two different days. Keep one clear block for the airport campus, then assign a separate half-day to Getty Center, The Broad, MOCA or LACMA rather than attempting both on the same afternoon. Rideshares to 3027 Airport Avenue matter more than hotel brand; Westside lodging shortens the transfer. Frieze Week events usually begin a few days before the fair opens, so arrive early if museum appointments are the point of the trip.
