The Banquet note
ART FAIR TOKYO began in 2005 and is organised by aTOKYO under managing director Kiichi Kitajima. The twenty-first edition occupies Tokyo International Forum Hall E and the Lobby Gallery, 3-5-1 Marunouchi, from 11 to 14 March 2027. Thursday is invitation only; the public enters Friday through Sunday. The point of the hall is still Japan’s mixed market: antiques, crafts, modern work and contemporary galleries together, organised as Galleries, Crossing and Projects. The 2026 edition published 141 exhibitors, 56,938 cumulative visits and JPY 3.65 billion in sales. The 2027 exhibitor list will follow. Projects for 2027 are planned off-site, in a busier public location than the Forum.
Come out at JR Yurakucho, a one-minute walk, or use the underground from Tokyo Station if you have luggage. Stay in Marunouchi or Ginza. Give the Forum one unhurried day: start with the antique and craft booths while your eyes are fresh, then contemporary. Nezu Museum wants a different morning in Aoyama. Tokyo Gendai at PACIFICO Yokohama each September is the international contemporary counterpart; it will not do this job. Art Basel Hong Kong follows on 25 to 27 March 2027 if your March can absorb two cities. Recheck artfairtokyo.com for 2027 hours; recent public days ran 11:00 to 19:00, with Sunday shorter.
Plan it well
Book a Marunouchi hotel if the Forum is the point. Buy tickets when the 2027 page opens. Leave Thursday alone unless you have an invitation.
