Park Hyatt Kyoto
Seventy-room Higashiyama hotel opened 30 October 2019 beside Kodai-ji, developed with Takenaka and interiors by Tony Chi and Associates. Inventory was kept deliberately small to stay in scale with the historic district and the on-site Kyoyamato ryotei lineage dating to 1877. Pagoda View categories face Yasaka Pagoda; garden and hillside rooms trade the postcard view for quieter courtyards. Book dinner at Kyoyamato or Yasaka weeks ahead, and allow extra taxi time on Ninenzaka when temple crowds peak.

While you're there
Kodaiji Masuyacho puts Ninenzaka, Yasaka Pagoda, and Kodai-ji within a quiet morning walk from the lobby. Book Kikunoi Honten or Gion Nishikawa for kaiseki without crossing town afterward. Confirm temple early-entry plans with the concierge.
Pro Tip: Have the concierge time Kodai-ji or Kiyomizu for opening from Masuyacho; staying on the hill only helps if you leave before day-trippers hit Ninenzaka.
- Best for
- Higashiyama lodging between Kodai-ji and Ninenzaka.
- Pair with
- Kikunoi Honten without crossing town.
- Season / timing
- Cherry blossom and autumn maple seasons sell out Masuyacho rooms first.
