Seventy-room Higashiyama hotel opened 30 October 2019 beside Kodai-ji, developed with Takenaka and interiors by Tony Chi and Associates. Inventory was kept deliberately small to stay in scale with the historic district and the on-site Kyoyamato ryotei lineage dating to 1877. Pagoda View categories face Yasaka Pagoda; garden and hillside rooms trade the postcard view for quieter courtyards. Book dinner at Kyoyamato or Yasaka weeks ahead, and allow extra taxi time on Ninenzaka when temple crowds peak.
