Dib Bangkok
Dib Bangkok is Thailand’s first international contemporary art museum, opened 21 December 2025 in a converted 1980s warehouse at 111 Soi Sukhumvit 40, Phra Khanong, Khlong Toei, between Rama IV Road and Sukhumvit 40. Kulapat Yantrasast of WHY Architecture designed the conversion with Architects 49: eleven galleries, a courtyard of about 1,400 square meters, a porcelain-mosaic Chapel, and a sculpture terrace. The late Petch Osathanugrah, the Osotspa heir who died in 2023, built a collection of more than 1,000 works; his son Purat (Chang) Osathanugrah opened it as a public museum. James Turrell’s Straight Up, conceived in 1988 and realized here in 2025, is the artist’s first permanent work in Southeast Asia. Alicja Kwade’s Pars pro Toto sits in the courtyard. Dr. Miwako Tezuka, formerly of the Japan Society Gallery in New York, is the inaugural director. Hours run Thursday through Monday, 10:00 to 19:00, closed Tuesday and Wednesday, with galleries shutting fifteen minutes early. Buy a timed ticket on dibbangkok.org before you taxi; walk-ups are not guaranteed. The inaugural hang, (In)visible Presence, ended 3 August 2026, so confirm the current exhibition on the site. First-season adult tickets were THB 550 for Thai visitors and THB 700 for everyone else; check prices when you book. While you're there
Dib sits between Rama IV and Sukhumvit 40 in Khlong Toei, a taxi or ride-hail from the Sukhumvit hotel belt rather than a station-door drop. Share the official pin; the last block is easy to overshoot in heat and traffic. Limited on-site parking, with more at the Dib Parking Building about a five-minute walk away. After the galleries, Jim Thompson House is a separate Pathumwan morning. River hotels such as Mandarin Oriental Bangkok or Capella Bangkok are a cross-town hop, not a stroll. Leave empty time around the reserved entry window.
Pro Tip: Closed Tuesday and Wednesday, unlike most Bangkok museums that rest on Monday. Diary Dib against a Monday river lunch and the courtyard is open while half the city is shut.
