The Banquet note
Tokyo Gendai’s fourth edition runs 11–13 September 2026 at PACIFICO Yokohama, with VIP Preview and Vernissage on 10 September. After early summer editions, the fair shifted toward September to escape Tokyo’s peak humidity and to sit more usefully in the autumn collector calendar. The premise remains a Bay-side international fair that puts Japanese galleries and Asia-Pacific peers in direct conversation with visiting collectors.
Base lodging in Minato Mirai for fair mornings, or accept a Yokohama day trip from central Tokyo if evening gallery programmes matter more. Keep Tokyo museum and neighbourhood gallery visits on separate days so the convention centre does not absorb the week. Confirm exhibitor lists and ticket tiers on tokyogendai.com; soften attendance claims until post-fair figures appear.
Plan it well
Book Yokohama or Tokyo lodging early for September. Use the Minato Mirai Line for PACIFICO access, and leave one Tokyo day free of the fair floor for museums such as the Nezu.
