Tokyo’s Bay-side contemporary fair returns to PACIFICO Yokohama for a fourth September edition, with Japanese galleries talking directly to Asia-Pacific and European peers.

The Banquet note
Tokyo Gendai’s fourth edition occupies PACIFICO Yokohama Halls C and D, 1-1-1 Minato Mirai, from 11 to 13 September, with a Vernissage on the 10th from 17:00 to 20:00. Earlier editions sat in early summer; the move to September was a humidity decision and a calendar one. The 2026 floor is organised by sector rather than a single grid: Galleries for multi-artist booths (Pace, Taka Ishii, TARO NASU and Gana Art among the published names), Hana for earlier-career presentations, Eda for more established or historically minded shows, a new Miki section for works on paper, and the returning Tane sector for digital media, including a Taiwanese project. Friday stays open until 20:00, which is the useful late look if you came from Tokyo after lunch.
Sleep in Minato Mirai if you want the fair at opening. Sleep in Tokyo if gallery dinners matter more, and treat Yokohama as a dedicated day on the Minato Mirai Line. Do not try to sandwich Nezu or a Ginza walk between two PACIFICO sessions; the convention centre will eat the afternoon. Adult day tickets were ¥4,000 in advance through 23 August and ¥5,000 at the door. The ¥30,000 Vernissage pass is capped and includes unlimited public days. Plan it well
Early-bird adult tickets stay on sale through 23 August at ¥4,000; after that, pay ¥5,000 at the door and go Friday, when the hall stays open until eight. Leave Saturday or Sunday for Tokyo museums. ART FAIR TOKYO in March is the Marunouchi counterpart if you want antiques and crafts under the same roof. Aman Tokyo and The Peninsula put you on the right side of town for a Yokohama day trip; a Minato Mirai hotel is kinder on the feet.
