TEFAF New York

The European Fine Art Foundation opened TEFAF Maastricht in 1988 and launched TEFAF New York in early 2016 as two annual Armory fairs, later consolidating into one May edition. The 2027 fair runs from 14 to 18 May at 643 Park Avenue, with an invitation-only collectors preview on 13 May, after a 2026 edition that brought 88 exhibitors from 14 countries across modern and contemporary work, design, jewelry and antiquities. TEFAF remains the only art fair at the Park Avenue Armory to activate the building's historic period rooms on the first and second floors, designed in the nineteenth century by figures including Louis Comfort Tiffany and Stanford White, with Tom Postma Design shaping the contemporary floor plan.

Treat May as a different New York from March. Asia Week New York concentrates historical Asian galleries and auction viewings earlier in the spring; TEFAF sits inside New York Art Week beside Frieze New York and Independent when those dates align. Keep one clear block for the Wade Thompson Drill Hall, another for the period rooms, and evenings for Upper East Side or Midtown dinners rather than stacking every satellite into midday. Preview paper and public tickets are separate products. Hotel rates around the Armory move as soon as auction week fills, so lock lodging once flights are firm.
