The original Formula 1 night race returns to Marina Bay for a sprint weekend, which is still the October reason the city’s hotels and tables fill.

The Banquet note
Formula 1 has raced at night in Singapore since 2008. The 2026 edition occupies Marina Bay from Friday 9 to Sunday 11 October and is a sprint weekend: practice and sprint qualifying on Friday, the sprint and qualifying on Saturday, the Grand Prix on Sunday under the lights. Set formula1.com to track time before you book dinner; the night race usually starts at 20:00. The 4.9-kilometre street circuit still threads the bay, the Padang and the Flyer, which is why a Bayfront hotel is either perfect or unbearable depending on whether you like helicopters.
Stay in Marina Bay if the track is the point, or in the Civic District if you want a quieter walk home after the chequered flag. Book the room first, then the ticket. Hospitality at Twenty3 and Paddock Club is the civilised way to survive the humidity; a walkabout ticket is cheaper and harder on the feet. Bring a light jacket for air-conditioning and expect the bay to stay wet-hot after dark. Do not plan National Gallery for Sunday afternoon. January’s ART SG is a different season.
Plan it well
Lock lodging before grandstands. Dress for heat after dark. If you only want one session, make it Sunday night and leave Friday to people who like sprints.
