Book Huangwan as the night at the mountain’s front door. Banyan Tree Mount Emei opened there on 3 August 2026, at No. 55, Section 1, Jingqu Road, close enough to Baoguo Temple that the first walk after check-in can be a real monastery. UNESCO put Mount Emei and the Leshan Giant Buddha on the same mixed listing in 1996. The hotel is five minutes from Emeishan High-Speed Railway Station and about two minutes from the scenic-area gate.
We’ll be blunt. The pool is easy, and the mountain is the part people miss.
There are 130 rooms and villas, each with a private outdoor hot-spring pool. That is the stay if you came to sit. The Golden Summit is a different booking, and it has to be on WeChat before Saturday.

The unhurried pace is real. It still needs a bus slot on your phone.
The Courtyard at the Gate
The architecture is by BUZZ, which kept the plan low and around the existing trees. CCD, the Hong Kong interiors firm Cheng Chung Design, did the rooms; GVL handled the landscape. Arrival uses the old western Sichuan courtyard idea, si shui gui tang: pitched roofs that send rain back to the centre. Seven century-old camphor trees stayed put. The hotel says it also kept every tree thicker than ten centimetres. From the air you see why that mattered: a lodge around a court, a lake, villa roofs in bamboo.
Which category? Mountain View rooms are 75 square metres, or 83 if you take the Wellbeing version. That is plenty for two nights when the mountain is the point. Garden Villas run 82 and open onto their own court. The lakeside villas are the water stay: 218 square metres with one bedroom, 296 with two. The hotel page lists the Presidential Villa at 669 square metres; opening press described a 320-square-metre house plus a garden of similar size. Book the court you will sit in. Villa money is wasted on a view you only see at breakfast.
The Study Room sits apart from the main lodge. Zhuang Ziyu, a contemporary Chinese architect, designed it and named it for Huizong Hall, Baoguo’s earlier title. The hotel lists six rooms for tea, calligraphy, and private meals. Useful if you have a table to host. For the temple, walk Baoguo. It began in the Wanli years as a hall where Buddhist, Daoist, and Confucian practice shared a roof; the Qing court later gave it the Baoguo name, often dated 1703. It sits around 550 metres, which is why it works before you have unpacked.
Book the Mountain Before the Room
From 23 May 2026, Golden Summit tickets have been capped at 8,000 a day. High-mountain buses run on timed slots you can reserve about 15 days ahead. Do this on the official WeChat channels (峨眉山景区 or 峨眉山旅游官方平台). Bring a passport if that is the document on the booking. Peak adult tickets have been published at CNY 160 and stay valid for two calendar days. Confirm the current window before you pay a reseller. The 2026 cap is what wrecks a last-minute Saturday, not the hotel desk.
Two nights is the honest minimum. Night one: the gate, Baoguo, the pool. Day two: a summit start earlier than you want. The usual climb is a scenic bus toward Leidongping, the high drop where the road gives out, then a short walk or ride to Jieyin Hall, where the Golden Summit cableway begins. Cloud can wipe the view. Keep a second morning free.
Leshan Giant Buddha is the same UNESCO listing and a separate half-day, about 40 minutes by car when the road is kind. Same morning as the summit and you will remember the traffic.

How to Use the Stay
Arrive by train if you can. Emeishan to Shuangliu Airport station is about an hour on published high-speed services; Chengdu East is a frequent hop of roughly 80 minutes. By car, allow about two hours from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, or about two hours 15 minutes from Tianfu. Leshan Airport is still listed as later 2026, about 40 minutes if it is open on your dates. Check-in is 15:00; check-out 12:00.
Eat at Jiayao when you want Sichuan heat or a Cantonese table. Mingyue is the all-day room, with lake and mountain in the window, which is the breakfast you want before an early bus. The Lobby Lounge does afternoon tea into evening drinks. Destination Dining is for a private table: tea on a black-canopy boat, the Mid-Lake Pavilion, bamboo, or the Study Room. Save it for the night you are not racing a cable car.
Banyan Tree Spa lists five couple treatment rooms and a rainforest-style hydrothermal circuit. Ask what is open. The bamboo-forest walk and the indoor pool that looks toward the groves are the fog-day plan.
