The Banquet note
Design Miami was founded in 2005 by the Miami developer Craig Robins as a collectible-design counterpart to Art Week, and the Miami Beach edition is still the flagship. The twenty-second edition occupies Pride Park from 1 to 6 December 2026, next to the Miami Beach Convention Center. Curatorial director Charlene Prempeh has framed 2026 under the theme Unveiling: gallery booths, Curio projects, talks and brand collaborations spanning twentieth- and twenty-first-century furniture, lighting and objets. Hours and ticket tiers will follow on designmiami.com; recent editions used a VIP opening before public days. An Art Basel badge does not get you in.
Walk from the Convention Center if you are already on the beach. Do not hop between Pride Park and the painting halls at 15:00; security lines and the afternoon heat make that a poor sport. One Pride Park day is enough if you are shopping a room. Keep the Design District and mainland programmes for an evening only if you still have feet. Sleep on Miami Beach if both fairs are the reason you came. Watch designmiami.com in October for tickets.
Plan it well
Buy Design Miami and Art Basel as two decisions. If you only have one spare day besides the Convention Center, spend it here rather than in a satellite tent you will not remember.
