Vancouver Art Gallery
Western Canada’s major public art museum, housed since 1983 in Arthur Erickson’s renovation of the former provincial courthouse at 750 Hornby Street beside Robson Square. The Centre for Global Asias (renamed from the Institute of Asian Art in 2024) anchors modern and contemporary Asian programming; in December 2025 the Gallery received Art Continuum Hong Kong, 131 works by 78 artists, the largest Hong Kong art gift in its history. Typical hours run 10:00–17:00, closed Tuesdays, with Fridays open later to 20:00; BMO Free First Fridays offer evening entry. Give the Gallery ninety minutes, then keep Coal Harbour or Main Street Cantonese for dinner rather than forcing a Fraser Street omakase the same night.
