Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi
Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi has stood at 15 Ngo Quyen since 1901, and in 2009 it became the first hotel in the Sofitel Legend collection. There are 358 rooms, divided between the Heritage Wing and the Opera Wing. The Heritage Wing reopened in 2023 after a two-year renovation. Rooms start at 32 square metres. Ask for the Heritage Wing if the old corridor is why you came. The Opera Wing is the neo-classical side, a short walk from the Hanoi Opera House on Trang Tien, which closed after 31 January 2026 for a restoration expected to last about two years. You can look at the facade. You cannot go inside. The hotel still shows guests the wartime bomb shelter, and Graham Greene put the building in The Quiet American. A 125th-anniversary programme runs through 2026. Book the room for the wing, and leave the programme on the website. Phone +84 24 3826 6919. Email metropolehanoi.info@sofitel.com. Capella, at 11 Le Phung Hieu, is the 47-room alternative on the same evening. Shilla Monogram Hanoi Westlake is the bed on the airport side of West Lake. Gia, at 61 Van Mieu, is the dinner that needs a car. The airport from Ngo Quyen is the long ride. Do not borrow the Shilla's clear-road 25 minutes for a French Quarter departure.

While you're there
The Opera House square is the evening walk, with the auditorium closed. Chapter on Chan Cam is the tasting menu you can walk to. The Temple of Literature and Gia are the morning and the dinner that need a car.
Pro Tip: Ask for the Heritage Wing by name. A city-view rate in the Opera Wing is a different corridor, and you will notice once you are upstairs.

- The French Quarter hotel when you want the garden and the longer history.
- Pair with
- Chapter on a walking night, Gia when the kitchen is worth the car.
