Where to eat, stay and visit in Taipei

Taipei is compact enough that Dunhua hotels, Xinyi shopping, Shilin museum mornings and Zhongshan nights can share one EasyCard if you plan by district. The Banquet listings put hotel nights at Capella Taipei and Mandarin Oriental, Taipei; tables at Le Palais, Mume and Taïrroir; a museum morning at the National Palace Museum; and fragrance or beauty shopping at P.Seven Yongkang and NOSE WAY in Shin Kong Mitsukoshi A11. Most long-haul flights land at Taoyuan (TPE); the Airport MRT Express reaches Taipei Main in about 35 minutes, while Songshan (TSA) suits many regional hops. Book starred tables through Inline weeks ahead, and leave one evening for a night market so the week does not flatten into tasting menus alone.
