Mumbai
Mumbai splits usefully between walkable South Mumbai (Colaba, Fort, Marine Drive, Kala Ghoda) and the northern suburbs such as Bandra, where cafés, promenades and a different nightlife sit behind heavier traffic. For a short first stay, base south if museum and harbour days matter; use trains or rideshares for Bandra rather than trying to cross the city twice in peak hours. Auto-rickshaws stop south of Mahim, so taxis and apps are the default in Colaba and Fort.
